Let’s talk about me!
Yep, it’s me- the girl behind the blog. I’m not just a computer screen. Believe it or not, I’m a living, breathing human being. You gasped, right?
Who are you?
I’m Neeli (pronounced knee-leee) and yes, that’s my real name. No, it’s not short for anything. I’m a 30 year young mother of an absolutely gawwww-jus daughter named Annadelle. I often refer to her as “Hurricane Annadelle”, as she is three and has a tendency to destroy everything in her path. I’m also wifey to Chris, a muscled-up stud muffin that I’ve had the pleasure of calling my husband for close to eight years now. I can’t forget about my three fur babies- Ruby, Roxie and Titan- who give me lots of snuggles when I need it most.
Important to note: This is my second go-around with a blog. My first one primarily focused on running and weight loss, but I decided variety was the spice of life and am now focusing more on a lifestyle (aka whatever the eff I want to write about) to: (1) document my thoughts and actions and (2) give myself a creative outlet in the hopes I won’t turn to food.
What’s your blog about?
I write mostly about things that have had a great effect on me, such as the loss of a parent, cancer, childbirth, etc., but I throw a little bit of personal, political, crafty and humorous posts along the way.
Are you a liberal?
Umm, not exactly. Surprisingly, I get this question a lot. I think it stems from the fact that I’m a Southern belle and yet I still support some liberal points. I consider myself a Libertarian, although there are several different takes on what it means to be a Libertarian. Webster’s dictionary defines “Libertarian” as “a person who believes in the doctrine of free will,” but I would take that a step further and say that I believe in freedom on a moral, ethical, and spiritual level. I take a liberal stance on social issues and a conservative stance on economic issues. Basically, I don’t fit society’s political norm.
What do you do for a living?
Up until recently, I worked as a secretary for a municipality under the Planning and Development Services division. I handled building, development, planning, zoning and permitting requests. I also served as administrative staff for several boards and commissions of the city.
I also design and sell invitations, printables, and other digital items like premade or custom logos through my Etsy shop, Reecy Roo.
Like I don’t already have enough on my plate, I’m also an active Advocare distributor.
Oh, and did I mention I also serve as the Media and Marketing Consultant for Fighter Maintenance Contracting? Basically, I’m hella busy!
My dream job is to be a full time author. I am currently in the process of drafting my own novel to self-publish with the help of Amazon (if you’ve checked out my blog already, you’ll see parts of the book in the making). It’s a slow process, though, so don’t expect a quick update on that. Creative writing is hard, y’all.
Where are you from?
I grew up an Army brat and presently reside in Alabama. My father worked as a Product Supervisor for the U.S. Department of Defense, so we moved around a lot. I’m a southern girl, mostly. I graduated high school in Newnan, GA and attended my freshman year of college at the University of Georgia majoring in Art and Graphic Design, but later changed my major to Journalism and Mass Communication. This post explains why my life didn’t exactly go as I had planned.
No, I mean where are you “from”?
Oh, you mean am I middle-eastern? The answer is no. Believe it or not, I get this question a lot, too. I assume it is due to the Hebrew origin of my name, but I think my ancestors are maybe a mix of Cherokee Indian and Scottish? (Update: I’m definitely not Cherokee Indian. Thanks to Ancestry.com ‘s DNA profiling, I learned I’m a mix of British, Scottish, and Irish!)
Don’t worry, I’m not offended. I have thick skin. And besides, it happens all the time. Let’s just say the TSA definitely gives my passport a good mean muggin’ any time I board a plane, that’s for sure.
What are you in to?
Well, I’m pretty nerdy, to be frank. I *love* Game of Thrones (like, seriously, obsessed) and go straight white girl wasted at Starbucks (I’m a gold card holder and totally proud of it). I have a pretty unhealthy obsession with makeup, although I’m not exactly an expert makeup artist. I love to read and get a sense of euphoria any time I enter a Barnes and Noble. I’ve recently established a Little Free Library in my neighborhood, so if you’re in the area, drop by and leave me a good book!
I also have a semi-newly-discovered passion for running. Check out my running resume to see all of the races I have participated in.
My passion is simple: live happy.
Will you review my product?
Possibly. Shoot me an e-mail at email@example.com for more information.
Are you on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc?
My social media links are listed on the home page. I’m pretty active on all forums, but plan to downsize that a bit in 2016 for my own sanity.
